When I have enough money for a special treat like a doll, I get the doll and save it for my birthday or Christmas. It is so much fun. My mom wraps up the doll so that I never see it until the big day. It's like getting a really special gift, and I have to wait to open it, so that builds up the suspense.

Maybe there are special days you have coming up, and you could have someone else wrap up the dolls for you. (This only works if the person wrapping can recognize flaws on a doll, I guess, but I've never have a problem.)
